Bioscope is one of the many movie theaters that will soon be available to moviegoers across India.
The film maker said in a statement that the movie theater in Mumbai, India, will be the first in the country to be connected to the Internet to enable moviegoers to buy tickets.
The film will be released in theaters across India on Jan. 31.
Bioscope has been operating since 1999 in the city of Ahmedabad, India’s second-largest city, but was sold to Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2006.
Bioscopes have been around for a long time in India, with the company developing a film theater in Chennai in 2008, a theater in Hyderabad in 2009, and a theater near Mumbai in 2010.
In January, India launched the Indian National Cinema Act, which aims to boost movie attendance, including by bringing online the film rental industry, which has been slow to respond.
Sony Pictures Entertainment has not yet responded to a request for comment on the company’s plan to expand the film theater network in India.
