It’s a question many Japanese fans face, but it’s also one that has perplexed many experts: Why do so many Japanese anime series have such wildly different endings and plot twists?
To answer this question, we spoke to people who have worked on some of the most popular Japanese anime titles, and asked them to describe the different endings for them.
Some anime titles have no plot whatsoever; others have no real endings, but they still have their endings that fans are likely to find appealing.
Some series, like Ghost in the Shell, have no ending at all, and some, like Attack on Titan, have endings that can be viewed in any order.
We also asked them about the differences between Japanese and American anime.
The results are fascinating, and they reveal a lot about what makes Japanese anime so appealing.
